Two unforgetable traditions pasca Eid-Mubarrak in Nagan Raya

In Aceh, the regency of Nagan Raya known as an area with a thousand tradition, especially during pasca Eid-Mubarrak. Therefore, the writer has summed two traditions that mostly  hold by people in Nagan Raya after Eid-Mubarak.

1. Intat Hidang

Intat hidang is a tradition where the family from new bride deliver the traditional snack and cake to the new groom’s family. There are various traditional snack such as Karah ( Originally from Nagan Raya, it is kind of cracker made from rice powder ), Kue Sepat, Bungong Kayee, and other crackers. However, they do not only bring the traditional snack, but also the cake, like Tart, Blackforest cake, Bhoi (traditional cake), and dodol that usually made from peanut and powder.

The unique part is, after the bride’s family come to the house of groom and did the simple banquette in the evening. The groom’s family started to open the parcel which contain many kind of traditional food and share it to other relatives with requirement, the relatives have to pay the food around Rp. 200.000 - 300.000 to the groom’s family. Last, after all money collected, the groom’s family should give it back to the bride’s family as cost of the traditional.

             2. Kanduri Jeurat

 Kanduri means the agenda as expressing of gratitude to God by praying doa or dzikir together with the villagers and do repast. In some regency in Aceh, they may call this kanduri as “khauri” or “kenduri”, but mostly it has same purpose.

Kanduri Jeurat refer to all villagers do dzikir in funeral area as symbol for visiting the passed away people in seasion of Eid-Mubarak. Then, in the middle of the noon, they take a rest and have a luch with the cuisine brought by several old-female villager. Atfer that, they come to their family’s grave and watering it horizontally three times. In the third watering, they like to wash their face and praying doa for the corpse.

That all two of other traditions that make the regency of Nagan Raya become the city with a thousands tradition. However, in some cases, doing tradition will keep our identity. But in other part, it might better if we avoid it consider to the lack of benefit on that tradition. Nevetheless, it depend on our heart, should we held that tradition or not?.
